2026 Australian Kangaroo 1kg Gold Coin

An iconic product of The Perth Mint, the gold Australian kangaroo bullion coins are a striking tribute to Australia’s most recognisable animal.

The Australian kangaroo is a large marsupial endemic to Australia. Identified by its muscular tail, strong back legs, large feet, short fur, and long, pointed ears, the animal has become a much-loved national icon.

Struck by The Perth Mint from 1 kilo of 99.99% pure gold, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and has no mintage limit.

DESIGN

The reverse of the 1kg gold kangaroo coin depicts a bounding kangaroo surrounded by stylised rays of sunlight. Inscriptions on the border include ‘AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO’ and the coin’s weight, purity, and the 2026 year-date.

The obverse of each coin bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination.
